SPRING HILL, Fla. (TCN) -- A 22-year-old woman remains hospitalized after her boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend allegedly stabbed her.
On the evening of July 31, the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home to a report of a possible stabbing. Deputies located Sydney McKelvy with a stab wound to the chest.
Upon further investigation, officials learned McKelvy’s boyfriend, Jeffrey Hildebrandt Jr., lives at the residence where the stabbing allegedly occurred. Hildebrandt reportedly told officials that he and his girlfriend were "hanging out at the house" when 19-year-old Emily Morales, his ex-girlfriend, came over unannounced to "create conflict."
According to the sheriff’s office, Hildebrandt stepped away to tell his mother about his ex-girlfriend’s arrival. McKelvy reportedly answered the door, inviting Morales into the home.
Deputies allege Morales "immediately became confrontational with McKelvy," pulled out a pocket knife, and stabbed her in the chest.
Hildebrandt reportedly rushed to the kitchen and found his girlfriend with the stab injury. According to the sheriff’s office, Morales also allegedly tried to stab Hildebrandt and then fled the scene.
Officials transported McKelvy to a local trauma center, and she required surgery.
Deputies found Morales at her residence and took her into custody. During an interview, she reportedly confessed to going over to her ex-boyfriend’s house to confront him, but she didn’t know McKelvy was also there. Morales told the sheriff’s office McKelvy took an "aggressive stance toward her," so she pulled out the pocket knife and allegedly stabbed her and then threw away the knife on her way home.
Authorities arrested Morales on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She was booked into the Hernando County Jail, and her bond was set at $5,000.
The sheriff’s office did not provide further details on the victim’s condition.
