HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (TCN) -- A 43-year-old man received a life sentence without the possibility of parole for molesting six young girls throughout the state of Texas.
The Harris County District Attorney's Office secured the term for Buck McCoy after a jury convicted him last week of continuous sexual abuse of a child. During the trial, jurors heard testimony from six victims.
According to prosecutors, beginning in 2012, McCoy "worked to ingratiate himself into different families," and he continued to do so for eight years. He would reportedly attempt to gain parents' trust before molesting young girls while caring for them. The victims were typically between 10 to 12 years old, the district attorney's office said.
McCoy reportedly listed his address as in Alvarado, Texas, but he had actually been living in the Houston area since around 2016. Harris County Sheriff's Office deputies initially arrested him in 2022 following reports from victims.
Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg said, "This is exactly the kind of predator who deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison. He abused children, the most vulnerable people in our community, and showed over and over that he cannot be trusted."
Assistant District Attorney Danielle Oxford added, "We’re proud of the victims who had the courage to testify against their attacker and thankful that the jury held this defendant accountable for what he did."
