FORT COLLINS, Colo. (TCN) -- Police arrested a registered sex offender last week after a missing teen girl from Missouri was found in his home.
According to the Fort Collins Police Department, on April 18, the Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force sent the department's Cyber Crimes Unit, which they say specializes in child exploitation cases, a tip about the potential kidnapping of a juvenile female who had been missing since December. Detectives learned the girl might be at a home in the 800 block of Warren Landing, so they obtained a search warrant for Maximilian Bondrescu's home.
Bondrescu allegedly told police at first that he didn't have a girl in the house, but detectives found her inside after executing the warrant.
The police department alleges Bondrescu rented a car before driving to Missouri to meet up with the girl, then brought her back to Fort Collins. According to the department, the girl told police she was held against her will, but he also made her work for his snow removal company. Bondrescu reportedly ordered the girl to wear a mask in order to hide her identity and age.
He was arrested on charges of second-degree kidnapping, sexual assault on a child — pattern of abuse, second-degree assault, false imprisonment — minor locked in room, failure to register as a sex offender, child abuse, harboring a minor, and obstructing a peace officer. Colorado Sex Offender Registry records show Bondrescu was convicted in 2019 of communication with a minor for immoral purposes.
Bondrescu is in custody at the Larimer County Jail with bond set at $500,000.
