Tennessee man convicted of fatally shooting his boss after getting fired

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (TCN) -- A 39-year-old man was recently found guilty of fatally shooting his employer after getting fired last year.
According to a May 16 news release from the Knox County District Attorney General's Office, a jury convicted Daniel Arwood of first-degree murder and evading arrest. A judge sentenced him to life in prison for murder with parole eligibility after 51 years served. The defendant will be sentenced on the evading arrest conviction on July 2.
On Feb. 5, 2024, Knoxville Police responded to a report of a shooting at a school bus transportation facility. The victim reportedly owned the bus business and had hired his friend, Arwood. According to prosecutors, the victim allowed Arwood to sleep in a room in the warehouse. However, the victim fired him, and the defendant was supposed to leave.
Arwood and the victim reportedly spoke in the parking lot before Arwood retrieved a gun and shot the victim twice. The victim attempted to run away, but Arwood chased him and fired at him again, killing him. Prosecutors said Arwood fled the scene in his car. Police located him, but the defendant sped away at over 100 miles per hour. He was later taken into custody.
