TEXAS CITY, Texas (TCN) -- A man who killed his mother and then went to a fast-food restaurant covered in blood recently learned his fate.
The Galveston County District Attorney’s Office announced that on May 14, Jonathan Taylor pleaded guilty to the murder of his mother, Regina McIntyre. He was sentenced to 50 years in prison.
According to prosecutors, on the night of Oct. 9, 2024, Texas City Police responded to a Wendy’s fast-food restaurant after the defendant, who was covered in blood, asked staff to call law enforcement. Taylor reportedly told police he killed his mother.
The defendant was transported to the hospital for suspected self-inflicted wounds. Meanwhile, police went to his home, where they "discovered a chaotic and bloody scene." McIntyre was reportedly on the floor with severe injuries and a machete nearby. She was flown to a hospital and died from her wounds. An autopsy later revealed McIntyre sustained at least 25 lacerations from the machete.
According to prosecutors, the blood on Taylor’s clothes and body matched McIntyre’s DNA. In an interview, Taylor reportedly admitted to authorities that he used the machete to kill his mother.
