Florida man allegedly lured his landlord, 'viciously beat her,' and crashed car into home

MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. (TCN) -- Authorities recently arrested a 69-year-old man on suspicion of luring his landlord and trying to kill her.
According to a June 26 news release from the Martin County Sheriff's Office, Brian Leach allegedly lured his landlord downstairs under the pretense of dinner before "brutally attacking" and "viciously" beating her. Leach is also accused of crashing his car into the home "in an apparent fit of rage."
The landlord reportedly lives on the top floor, while Leach rents the lower level, WPTV-TV reports. Investigators believe Leach allegedly attacked his landlord after she mentioned eviction.
Leach was released from the hospital and booked into the Martin County Jail on a charge of attempted murder.
According to the sheriff's office, the victim is recovering from critical injuries.
