New Jersey woman accused of stabbing her toddler brother

BRICK TOWNSHIP, N.J. (TCN) -- A New Jersey woman has been charged with attempted murder and several other offenses after allegedly stabbing her 2-year-old brother in the chest at their home.
In a press release, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billheimer said officers responding to a 911 call at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 1 at a home in Brick Township found a young child with a stab wound to his chest. He was transported to an area hospital and is in stable condition.
The toddler’s sister, Marlene Rodriguez, 20, is suspected of carrying out the stabbing, according to an investigation by the Brick Township Police Detective Bureau, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit.
Rodriguez was arrested at the Brick Township Police headquarters and is in custody at Ocean County Jail.
In addition to attempted murder, Rodriguez is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and endangering the welfare of a child.
