Couple facing drug charges after allegedly making lollipops laced with methamphetamine

DECATUR, Ill. (TCN) -- A couple has been charged with manufacturing methamphetamine after police discovered they were making and selling drug-laced candy, authorities say.
Leon Neal and Stephanie Sellers were charged following an investigation into the alleged lollipop manufacturing that began in October, according to WAND.
After police obtained a lollipop, tested it, and confirmed it contained methamphetamine, they began to conduct surveillance on Neal.
The investigation revealed that the car Neal frequently drove was registered to Sellers. On Nov. 20, police stopped Neal as he was leaving his home. They obtained a warrant and reportedly found a large quantity of the drug-infused candy in the home and the car.
Allegedly, Sellers tried to hide the candy in the washing machine when she saw the police arrive.
Officers located ingredients for making the lollipops and found a total of 1,326.2 grams, or about 3 pounds, of the laced candy, including packaging. The lollipops were reportedly individually wrapped.
Sellers claimed Neal drove her car without a valid license; she alleged he made the candy and she reportedly helped him count it and pour corn syrup into the pot during the manufacturing process.
Neal and Sellers are due to appear in court on Dec. 10.
