Michigan mom, stepdad charged in death of pregnant daughter whose baby was allegedly cut out of her while she was still alive

CADILLAC, Mich. (TCN) -- The mother and stepfather of a 22-year-old woman whose remains were found in a wooded area have been charged with murder.

Rebecca Park, 22, was nearing the end of her pregnancy when she was seen for the last time on Nov. 3. She had reportedly just inherited $2,000, Law & Crime reports. Her body was found Nov. 25 along a hiking trail in Michigan’s Manistee National Forest.

Park’s fiancé, Richard Falor, 43, and her sister, Kimberly Park, 21, were arrested that same day on drug and evidence tampering charges, but there was no formal indication that the charges were related to the disappearance and later death of Rebecca Park, according to Law & Crime.

On Dec. 2, Park’s biological mother, Cortney Bartholomew, 40, and Bartholomew’s husband, Brad Batholomew, 47, were each charged with murder, torture, and multiple other crimes, CBS News reports. Prosecutor Johanna Carey said that when the remains were discovered, the baby had been cut out. No motive has been disclosed.

CBS News reports the Bartholomews allegedly forced Rebecca into a vehicle, took her to the woods, and cut the baby out of her while she was alive. The injuries reportedly killed Park and her baby.

Park was not raised by her biological mother, CBS News reports. She had been adopted by another couple.

According to CBS, the Bartholomews appeared in court by video from jail and have been denied bond. 

The baby’s body has not yet been recovered, Law & Crime reports.
