COLUMBUS, Ohio (TCN) -- Police have released home security footage that shows a person of interest walking near the residence of a couple who died in a double homicide on Dec. 30, 2025.
The bodies of Dr. Spencer Tepe, 37, and his wife, Monique Tepe, 39, were discovered at their home around 10 a.m. after police conducted a requested wellness check, The Associated Press reports. It was later determined the couple were killed between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. that day. The couple’s young children were also in the home but were not harmed.
According to the AP, the couple died in an apparent homicide from gunshot wounds, but the Franklin County Coroner’s Office will not have official reports for several weeks.
On Jan. 5, police released surveillance footage of a person of interest in the case. In the video, a person in light-colored pants and a dark jacket is seen walking in an alley near the Tepes’ home during the time frame in which police believe the attack occurred. Police have requested that the public submit tips anonymously through an online portal.
The New York Post reports Spencer Tepe’s co-worker at his dental practice became concerned when he did not show up at the office. In addition, a friend called police after going to the Tepes’ home to check on them and heard the children inside and saw Spencer Tepe’s body.
Police say the deaths were not a result of a murder-suicide, according to the New York Post, and there were no signs of forced entry. Spencer Tepe had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and Monique Tepe suffered at least one, according to police records obtained by the outlet.
The Columbus Dispatch reports the couple had been married for five years and had a 1-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl. The children have since been placed with family members. Police have not released a motive or whether one of the Tepes was the primary target of the attack. The investigation is ongoing.
