ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (TCN) -- A father is in custody for the possession and distribution of child sexual abuse images containing his 7-year-old daughter, the New Mexico Department of Justice announced.
The NMDOJ’s Internet Crimes Against Children got a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding materials being sent or received on Kik on Jan. 23, the announcement said. An investigation followed and the IP address was found to be associated with Timothy Houle, 34, a divorced father of two children, one of whom matched the description of the child in the photo.
According to a criminal complaint obtained by ABQ Raw, the address was found to belong to Houle’s parents. He reportedly lived there with them and shared custody of his children with his ex-wife. A search warrant was executed at the residence.
Us Weekly reports Houle was apprehended at a trampoline park on Jan. 26 while there with both of his children.
ABQ Raw reports Houle allegedly denied using the Kik app but then admitted he got drunk and downloaded several messaging apps, including Kik. According to the complaint, he used the app to send images of his daughter to another user on the platform.
According to Us Weekly, police spoke to the child’s mother, who confirmed the photo was of her child. She reportedly recognized her daughter’s chin in the photo and cried uncontrollably when shown the picture. The outlet reports Houle told authorities he had taken the photo two years prior to share with the girl’s mother a rash that she had, but police say there was no rash apparent in the picture.
Investigators performed an open trace search and found that child sexual abuse materials were connected to an account belonging to Houle’s father, 74, Us Weekly reports.
Houle is being held without bond.
