GLENDALE, Ariz. (TCN) -- A woman is in custody after allegedly attacking an ex-boyfriend’s female friend at a roller-skating rink.
Arizona’s Family reports that on Jan. 25, Justic Cofield, 25, was charged with aggravated assault, destruction of public property, and resisting arrest in connection with the incident.
According to a probable cause statement obtained by Law & Crime, Cofield allegedly attacked a female friend of her ex-boyfriend at a roller-skating rink to send him a message. She then allegedly posted about the attack on social media and sent the victim a direct message discussing the attack and admitting to striking the victim with a skate and continuing to beat her.
According to the statement, “The communications also reflected the user’s stated intent to use [the victim] as an example and to send a message to a male associate, indicating the assault was purposeful and retaliatory rather than accidental.”
The victim, whose name has not been released, suffered a chipped incisor and a molar crown being knocked out, Law & Crime reports. In addition, the victim documented her other injuries with photos she shared with authorities, including two black eyes, facial bruising, and swelling. According to police, the victim also suffered a concussion, Arizona’s Family reports.
The incident was captured on surveillance footage, according to Law & Crime. In the video, Cofield allegedly sneaks up to the victim while holding two skates, smacks her to the ground with one of them, and then jumps on her. Cofield allegedly continued the beating even after a third party intervened, Law & Crime reports. Arizona’s Family reports a security guard broke up the fight.
Cofield allegedly said on social media she was willing to escalate the fight by using a “pole,” a slang term for firearm, Law & Crime reports.
When police located Cofield, she allegedly denied being in the footage and tried to run away. Once in custody, she allegedly repeatedly threw a chair at the door with force while waiting to be interviewed. Cofield also allegedly kicked a table over and resisted being put into handcuffs.
Arizona’s Family reports Cofield had previously been arrested for DUI, violating a court order, and obstructing a court order. She remains held on bonds totaling $151,000.
