Mom of missing toddler Genesis Reid charged with capital murder

ENTERPRISE, Ala. (TCN) -- The mother of a missing toddler has been charged with capital murder and corpse abuse, but the child’s body has not yet been found.
WTVY reports Adrienne Reid, 33, was charged on March 9. The Enterprise Police Department announced the charges at a press conference on what would have been the child’s third birthday.
On Feb. 16, 2-year-old Genesis Reid was reported missing by her mother at about 3 a.m. When police arrived at their home, the front door was open, according to People.
When the investigation found Reid had provided inconsistent statements to police, she was arrested and charged with false reporting on Feb. 17, People reported. Coffee County District Attorney James Tarbox announced the following day that she was the only known suspect in the case.
In a press release, Enterprise Police Chief Michael Moore said the investigation revealed Genesis Reid had not been seen since Dec. 25, 2025. Camera footage obtained by authorities showed Reid allegedly wheeling a duffel bag to a dumpster at her apartment complex that day. She then allegedly returned a few days later carrying her child’s belongings, including toys.
According to the release, Coffee County Sheriff Scott Byrd said a search of the county landfill is upcoming. He said investigators have narrowed down a search area, but the search might take more than 10 weeks. Tarbox said Reid will appear before a judge to face the new felony charges, adding, “The evidence shows that Adrienne Reid killed her daughter, literally threw her in the trash, and then engaged in a 53-day campaign of deceit, lies, manipulation, and destruction of evidence, before she finally reported her missing on Feb. 16.”
According to the city of Enterprise, the district attorney’s office plans to seek the death penalty.
