MOUNT WASHINGTON, Ky. (TCN) -- A 67-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of his wife, who was found beaten to death with a piece of wood.
The Louisville Courier-Journal reports officers responding to a residence on March 6 saw Richard Chesher standing outside his open garage door, covered in blood. Inside the garage, they saw a body, later determined to be his wife, Bonnie Chesher, also bloody, and wrapped in a garden hose. WAVE reports Chesher allegedly tried to close the garage door when he saw officers arriving.
An investigation determined Bonnie Chesher was attacked in the home and then dragged into the garage with the garden hose, according to the Courier-Journal. Police allege Chesher was using the hose to pull the body into his truck and had created a makeshift ramp to his truck bed using boards. At the scene, investigator found what they described as a “a large piece of club-like wood … that appeared to have blood on it.”
According to court documents obtained by WDKY, Bonnie Chesher was “beaten so badly around her face and head she was unrecognizable.”
Chesher was taken into custody without incident, per WAVE. He was charged with murder with domestic violence, tampering with physical evidence, and abuse of a corpse, and is being held in jail on $1 million bond, according to the Courier-Journal. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 17.
