MILWAUKEE (TCN) -- A 51-year-old man has been charged after two of his elderly neighbors were beaten and one died from his injuries.
David Tisser is charged with two counts of battery to an elderly person in connection with the April 1 incidents, WITI reports. On that day, Tisser allegedly kicked in an apartment door and injured a 72-year-old man, whose name has not been released. WISN reports Tisser allegedly kicked a stall door in a shared bathroom, which injured the man’s left hand.
Tisser then allegedly forcibly entered the room of 64-year-old Steve Stegall. According to a criminal complaint obtained by WITI, Tisser struck Stegall multiple times using items he found in the room, such as a television, a mini fridge, and a microwave. Tisser then allegedly pushed Stegall down the stairs before he tried to leave the apartment.
Sheronica McIntyre, Stegall’s daughter, told WITI, “He threw him down the stairs severely and my dad says that’s when he hit his head. He was left with a [traumatic brain injury].”
Stegall was treated for life-threatening injuries at the hospital and McIntyre said he was in a coma for three days before he woke and described what had happened. In addition to describing the attack, he alleged Tisser had been banging on people’s doors all day prior to the incident. Stegall died from his injuries on April 8, WITI reports.
Tisser has been ordered to undergo a competency exam. His cash bond has been set at $10,000, according to WITI. WISN reports the charges against Tisser will likely be upgraded since Stegall’s death.
