Florida mom arrested after allegedly posting Instagram video in which she poured hot wax onto daughters

MIAMI (TCN) -- MIAMI (TCN) -- A 26-year-old mother has been charged with arson and child abuse after an investigation into content she allegedly posted on her Instagram account.

The investigation into Meliza Campos-Sanchez began Aug. 16 after her estranged husband, who was living with his parents at the time, saw posts on Campos-Sanchez’s Instagram account that concerned him, WKRC reports. In one video, Campos-Sanchez can allegedly be seen dancing in a silver mask and lighting a pile of clothing on fire, and in another, she is allegedly seen pouring hot wax onto herself and onto her daughters’ hands.

WKRC reports police arrived at Campos-Sanchez’s home to investigate the fire and determined it had been set on purpose by pouring flammable liquid onto combustible materials. NBC Miami reports investigators believe the substance allegedly used was rubbing alcohol.

The children’s father, Yusniel Cue, told investigators Campos-Sanchez had attempted suicide shortly before the incident. He claimed he had contacted authorities a week prior out of concern for the children, according to Us Weekly. Cue said he found out about the videos when one of Campos-Sanchez’s friends saw them and contacted him.

Cue reportedly took custody of the children during the investigation, per Us Weekly. When officers went to the hospital to interview Campos-Sanchez following the alleged incident, she was reportedly sedated.

Us Weekly reports Campos-Sanchez was taken into custody on Aug. 17 and charged with first-degree arson, child abuse, and two counts of child neglect.

Campos-Sanchez has approximately 55,000 followers on Instagram, WKRC reports. She is being held without bond and has an immigration hold, per NBC Miami.
