COBB COUNTY, Ga. (TCD) --
A professional golfer and two others were shot and killed Saturday at a country club near Atlanta.
According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Cobb County Police Department spokeswoman Shenise Barner said golfer Gene Siller was found dead at the tenth hole on the green at Pinetree Country Club with a gunshot wound to his head at about 2:30 p.m. on July 3. He was declared dead at the scene.
A Dodge Ram 3500 pickup truck was also found nearby, the Journal-Constitution reports. Police told the Journal-Constitution two other bodies were found in the bed of the truck, including the truck's owner, Paul Pierson.
The other victim was not immediately identified.
Police said both men also died of gunshot wounds.
The assailant remained at large as of Tuesday morning.
The Gwinnett Daily Post reports Siller was investigating after a man drove his truck into the sand trap near the No. 10 green at Pinetree. The Post reports a Pinetree member’s post on Facebook claimed Siller was shot “five times at point blank range,” but that information was not immediately confirmed.
On Tuesday, police said Siller "happened upon a crime in progress" and that he was not actively targeted, the Journal-Constitution reports. They reportedly believe Siller was killed "because he witnessed an active crime taking place."
Pinetree Country Club is located near Kennesaw State University. The school's Office of Emergency Management tweeted a description of the suspect: "Hispanic Male considered armed and dangerous. Suspect is 6'1" and 170 lbs and was last seen wearing a white T-shirt."
An updated tweet from the KSU Office of Emergency Management described the alleged suspect as having long hair and wearing "dark-colored work pants."

Police told the Journal-Constitution the victims in the truck "appear to have no relation to the location at all."
Pinetree's Facebook page shows Siller joined the club in 2019 as the director of golf.
Police were reportedly still working to determine a motive.
