PLAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (TCN) -- A 26-year-old man who was arrested amid a search for his missing girlfriend has formally been charged on suspicion of killing her.
Twenty-four-year-old Raychel Sheridan, who was believed to be pregnant, failed to show up to work on July 1 and was reported missing, according to Plain Township Trustee Brook Harless. The following day, deputies with the Stark County Sheriff's Office responded to a home to perform a welfare check on Sheridan and entered her into the national database as a missing person.
While at the scene, deputies found Sheridan's Jeep Liberty and performed a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle, Sheridan's boyfriend, 26-year-old Sean Goe, reportedly fled on foot. Canton Police arrested Goe at a homeless shelter on July 3 on active warrants for burglary, grand theft of a firearm, and domestic violence involving Sheridan.
According to the sheriff's office, detectives executed a search warrant at the home of Sheridan and Goe and found evidence of foul play. Investigators allege Goe killed his girlfriend inside their apartment.
On the day of Goe's arrest, Canton sanitation workers found a body at a park believed to be that of Sheridan.
Officials formally charged Goe on July 8 on charges of murder, abuse of a corpse, domestic violence, and tampering with evidence. He remains held in the Stark County Jail on $1 million bond.
