MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (TCD) -- A 39-year-old man faces charges after he allegedly shot an actor at a haunted house because he thought a gun that fell to the ground was part of the experience.
On Saturday, April 16, at approximately 8 p.m., Myrtle Beach Police officers responded to a person with a gunshot wound at the Hollywood Wax Museum. The victim was reportedly receiving treatment at the scene.
In a follow-up statement, Myrtle Beach Police said they arrested Keal Latrell Brown and charged him with contributing to the delinquency of a minor, though additional charges "are likely."
According to police, Brown and a group of people were inside the Hollywood Wax Museum Haunted House when they were "frightened by the victim," who was an actor in the haunted house experience. Police said, "One person in the group fell to the ground, and during the scramble, a gun slid back and struck Brown in the foot."
Brown allegedly picked the gun up and fired it twice, because he "believed the gun was a prop and part of the experience."
According to WMBF-TV, Brown let his 15-year-old child take possession of the gun even though he knew it was real. He was reportedly released on bond Wednesday, April 20.
