PHILIPSBURG, Pa. (TCD) -- An 18-year-old will spend up to 10 years in prison for raping a mentally disabled boy in the woods last year.
Court records show a judge sentenced David Michael Heck to a minimum of five years in prison and a maximum of a decade behind bars after the teen pleaded guilty July 20 to rape of a child. Prosecutors dropped two counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse of a person with a mental disability, corruption of minors, and indecent assault of a person less than 13 years of age.
The Centre Daily Times reports Heck told the judge, "Wish me luck," at the sentencing.
According to the criminal complaint cited by WTAJ-TV, on Oct. 15, 2022, a juvenile informed Pennsylvania State Police Heck made him engage in sexual acts in a wooded area. Two passersby reportedly saw Heck naked, and when they went up to him, he fled. The witnesses saw the victim, who told them Heck assaulted him.
The witnesses noted the victim was "visibly upset and crying," according to the Centre Daily Times.
The same day of the assault, Heck reportedly went to the victim's house and claimed to be his friend and a volunteer firefighter.
