Washington woman arrested after 3-year-old is found dead in apartment

TACOMA, Wash. (TCD) -- A 25-year-old woman was taken into custody after police officers found a 3-year-old child deceased in an apartment.
According to the Tacoma Police Department, on Sunday, Feb. 12, at 7:35 p.m., officers received a call about an unresponsive child in an apartment on the 3200 block of South Mason Avenue. Tacoma Police officers went to the residence, located the 3-year-old boy, and attempted lifesaving measures on him.
The boy was reportedly "cold to the touch," and police declared him deceased at the scene.
Detectives and other crime scene technicians arrived at the scene, and officials arrested a 25-year-old woman on suspicion of second-degree murder. Police did not publicly identify her.
According to Tacoma Police, another child in the residence was placed into protective custody.
The child’s cause of death and his relationship to the woman taken into custody were not immediately clear.
