DALLAS (TCD) -- A 31-year-old man was located and arrested about two weeks after he allegedly shot and killed a woman who beat him in a basketball game.
According to a statement, on Oct. 3 at approximately 7:40 p.m., Dallas Police Department officers responded to a shooting on the 4100 block of Hamilton Avenue and found 21-year-old Asia Womack on the sidewalk suffering from "multiple gunshot wounds." Fire department officials arrived and transported her to a nearby hospital, where she died.
On Oct. 11, Dallas Police said investigators issued a warrant for the suspect, Cameron Hogg, but his whereabouts were unknown. Hogg was located and arrested Oct. 20 and charged with murder.
NBC DFW reports Womack and Hogg were playing basketball at Paul L. Dunbar Learning Center when they got into an argument. She reportedly left and went to a friend’s house, and then Hogg allegedly drove over to the home and shot her several times.
According to KDFW-TV, Womack and Hogg know each other.
Asia’s mother, Andrea Womack, told KDFW, "This was supposed to be a friend of Asia’s. She’s eaten with the man. She’s fed him, and he turned on her and killed her in a vicious way."
Asia and Hogg were allegedly exchanging heated words during the game, which her pastor called "so senseless."
Pastor John Delley said, "You become embarrassed basically because a female beat you in basketball."
Womack’s obituary was even written describing phases as her life like quarters in basketball games. The "first quarter" describes her birth and education. She was reportedly a student at Texas A&M Commerce studying kinesiology.
The obituary says she had a "passion for basketball since an early age" and a "a big heart filled with so much love, joy, and laughter."
Hogg was booked into the Dallas County Jail with his bond set at $1,751,000.
