OKLAHOMA CITY (TCD) --
An Oklahoma man is charged with murder after his girlfriend's 10-month-old baby died Saturday morning.
Oklahoma City Police said officers responded to a report of a child in medical distress at the Mercy Minor Emergency Clinic Friday afternoon. Police said the child, identified as Paisley Cearly, had been brought in with critical injuries. She was transported to another hospital, where she was pronounced dead Saturday morning.
Investigators said the injuries were caused at the girl's residence on SW 5th St.
Joshua Jennings, the girl's mother's boyfriend, was arrested for child abuse. He was booked into the Canadian County Jail on a charge of first-degree murder, death of child by injuring/torturing/maiming.
There was evidence of older injuries on the child, KFOR reports.
“Upon talking to the doctor, there's no way the injuries could have occurred accidentally,” said Oklahoma City Police MSgt. Gary Knight.
KFOR reports Joshua Jennings advocates against the harm of kids on his Facebook page. He has posted and shared several posts condemning physical and sexual child abusers, all with the "#SaveOurChildren" hashtag.
