BROOKLYN, N.Y. (TCD) -- Police are investigating after a human leg was reportedly located inside a tire days after a torso was found in a shopping cart blocks away.
According to WPIX-TV, NYPD officers responded to a call on Jamaica Avenue near Vermont Street in Brooklyn’s Cypress Hills neighborhood regarding the discovery of a body on Monday, March 7. Officers reportedly found the severed leg — still wearing a sock — inside a tire.
The finding of the leg comes a little less than a week after a man in Brooklyn looked inside a trash bag in a shopping cart and saw a human torso, WABC-TV reports. He reportedly thought the bag contained trash. The torso reportedly belonged to a woman and was not decomposed.
Law enforcement officials told WABC the torso did not have any stab or gunshot wounds. There were also no tattoos or birth marks on the torso for identification purposes.
WPIX reports NYPD did not say whether the two cases are related.
