BOONEVILLE, Miss. (TCD) -- A man was hospitalized after a couple allegedly knocked on his door and attacked him this month.
According to a news release from the Prentiss County Sheriff's Department, on the morning of Oct. 7, medical personnel from Booneville Hospital contacted deputies to report a man suffering from injuries due to an apparent assault. Deputies spoke with the victim in the emergency room, who said that at around 2 a.m., two individuals knocked on his door. When he opened the door, the two suspects allegedly entered and began beating him.
Prentiss County Sheriff Randy Tolar told WTVA-TV the victim was stabbed and is still recovering.
According to the Sheriff's Office, the suspects, 49-year-old Ryan Henderson and 33-year-old Marilyn Andrea Howell, were charged with aggravated assault –– use of deadly weapon or other means likely to produce death or serious bodily harm, and burglary, breaking and entering of a dwelling house/home invasion.
Howell also faces a charge of possession of weapon by felon because she had brass knuckles on her at the time of her arrest.
The Sheriff's Office noted that Howell has two prior felony charges out of Prentiss County Circuit Court for possession of oxycodone and false pretense.
It is unknown if the couple and the victim knew each other before the assault.
Tolar told WTVA that investigators have not identified any stolen items, but they believe the pair had been searching for something inside the home.
Henderson’s bond was set at $50,000, while Howell’s was set at $75,000.
