MEADVIEW, Ariz. (TCD) -- A 40-year-old man is in custody on suspicion of killing his 32-year-old ex-girlfriend who died in a go-kart collision last week.
According to a news release from the Mohave County Sheriff's Office, on Friday, July 28, at approximately 1:36 a.m., deputies responded to the area near Driftwood and Boathouse Drives to a report of a vehicle collision involving an ATV-type vehicle and a go-kart.
Officials transported the driver of the ATV, Sally Minard, to a Las Vegas hospital for critical injuries, where she was later pronounced dead.
The Sheriff's Office said John Stettler, the victim's ex-boyfriend, was driving the go-kart at the time of the incident.
Sheriff's Office detectives worked with the Accident Reconstruction Team and allege the crash was caused by Stettler as a "criminal act, not just a vehicle collision."
Deputies arrested Stettler and booked him into the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility on a charge of second-degree murder per domestic violence.
The investigation is ongoing.
