BLOUNT COUNTY, Ala. (TCD) -- A 38-year-old man was arrested and charged after allegedly fatally stabbing his 52-year-old live-in girlfriend and dismembering her body.
According to Al.com, on Saturday, Oct. 22, shortly before 5:30 p.m., a neighbor called 911 to request a welfare check at a home on Bailey Drive. At the scene, authorities reportedly found the victim, Tammy Bailey, dismembered and deceased with more than 100 stab wounds.
Upon further investigation, the Blount County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim’s live-in boyfriend, Justin Fields, as a suspect, WBRC-TV reports.
On Oct. 21, the couple reportedly came home from a birthday celebration trip, and Fields wanted to engage in sex with his girlfriend, but she turned him down. Fields became frustrated and allegedly stabbed her one time.
Blount County Sheriff Mark Moon told WBRC, "On Saturday, he went back in there and felt like he was having a bad dream."
Moon continued, "For some reason, he stabbed her multiple times again."
Authorities reportedly believe that the victim died on Friday, Oct. 21, due to a major wound to her heart.
Moon told WBRC that Fields spoke with his father on Saturday, Oct. 22, over the phone and said he did something "horrible." The father allegedly called the victim’s sister, who is also Bailey’s neighbor. The sister reportedly tried to enter the home, but Fields wouldn’t let her inside, telling her "he had done something horrible and she didn’t need to go in there."
On Oct. 23, Fields was arrested and booked into the Blount County Jail for murder and abuse of a corpse, records show.
