CAMDEN, N.J. (TCD) -- A 41-year-old man who is in custody in Cleveland on suspicion of killing four family members and injuring a young girl now faces charges in connection with a cold case from 2013.
In a statement, the Camden County Prosecuting Attorney's Office announced Martin Muniz was charged with first-degree murder for the death of Jaime Molina.
On Oct. 30, 2013, at 1:26 p.m., Camden County Police officers were dispatched to North 5th Street and Cedar Street regarding an unresponsive male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. When they arrived, they located Molina not breathing and transported him to a hospital. He was pronounced dead at 3:45 p.m.
According to the Camden County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, Molina died from a gunshot wound to the head.
The investigation into Molina's death has been ongoing since 2013, and detectives reportedly caught a break following Muniz's arrest earlier this year in Cleveland. Muniz allegedly "provided information to detectives regarding Molina’s death," which ultimately resulted in the criminal charges against him.
On Jan. 13, Muniz reportedly contacted Cleveland Police and informed them he fatally shot several people at a home near Mack Court. Officers went to the home and found Muniz's 16-year-old nephew, Jayden Baez, 69-year-old father, Miguel Gonzalez, and 34-year-old sister, Angelic Gonzalez deceased inside the home. Forty-eight-year-old Anthony Boothe and his 8-year-old daughter were transported to a nearby hospital, where Boothe later died.
Cleveland.com reports the victims were all shot in the head.
The Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office indicted Muniz on 25 charges, including four counts of aggravated murder, two counts of attempted murder, eight counts of murder, 10 counts of felonious assault, and one count of having weapons under disability.
Muniz remains in custody in Cleveland.
