New York man allegedly beat his 91-year-old mother, killed 72-year-old sister

HAMBURG, N.Y. (TCD) -- A 64-year-old man was recently charged after allegedly assaulting his mother and fatally beating his sister.
According to a news release from the Erie County District Attorney's Office, on Sunday, May 8, at around 4:51 p.m., Michael Osuch allegedly assaulted his 91-year-old mother in their home on Bristol Road. He reportedly hit her on the head and body with an object.
The D.A.’s Office said the mother escaped the house and called for help. She was reportedly transported to a hospital via ambulance and suffered a laceration to her head, along with a fractured skull.
According to the D.A.’s Office, Osuch also assaulted his sister, 72-year-old Christine Osuch. The sister reportedly saw her mother bleeding and went into the home to grab a towel. Once she was inside the home, her brother allegedly attacked her, causing a large cut to her head, a fractured skull, and a brain bleed.
Christine Osuch was reportedly transported to a hospital and died on May 23.
An autopsy report revealed that the suspect’s sister died of blunt force trauma to the head, and her death was ruled a homicide, according to the D.A.’s Office.
Osuch was reportedly arraigned on July 12 and charged with one count of second-degree murder, one count of second-degree attempted murder, and one count of first-degree assault. He is scheduled to appear in court again on Wednesday, July 27.
Osuch remains held without bail. According to the D.A.’s Office, he faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison if convicted.
The D.A.’s Office did not disclose the mother’s name.
