UPDATE: Mother charged with murder of daughter, 4, thrown into river

UPDATE 10:16 p.m. ET: According to Tampa Police Chief Brian Dugan:
Police received a call about a woman who had possibly thrown a child into the river near Rome Avenue and Aileen Street. The dive team responded immediately.
The body of the little girl was discovered 75 feet offshore around 4:30 p.m. The child was pronounced dead at a hospital. She was identified as Je'Hyrah Daniels, 4.
Shakayla Denson, 26, was arrested on several charges, including first-degree felony murder in the death of her daughter, Je'Hyrah Daniels.
Witnesses say Denson waded into the Hillsborough River with her child. Roughly halfway across the river, she tossed Daniels and began wading out.
- Police said Denson stole a car from a local auto shop and then drove to the water with her daughter. She was caught walking nearby after after leaving her daughter in the water, USA Today reports.

TAMPA, Fla. -- (WBBH) -- Tampa police divers recovered the body of a 4-year-old girl they believe was thrown into the Hillsborough River this afternoon by the girl's mother.
The child was pulled from the water and died at the hospital. Police believe the mother drove to the river. A woman believed to be the girl's mother was in police custody Thursday afternoon.
