DELMONT BOROUGH, Pa. (TCD) -- A 61-year-old man was arrested over the weekend when he allegedly walked into a Dairy Queen wearing a rainbow wig and said he wanted to "restore Trump to president of the United States."
According to Trib Live, on Saturday, Sept. 10, Delmont Police were called to the Dairy Queen on Route 66 at 1:30 p.m. after receiving a report about a man driving unsafely who was wearing a wig and bright safety vest. The man, Jan Stawovy, then allegedly parked his car and walked into the fast food restaurant with a gun.
Delmont Police Chief T.J. Klobucar told Trib Live that customers were inside Dairy Queen when Stawovy entered. A group of people with intellectual disabilities were reportedly going in at around the same time.
WTAJ-TV, which cites the police report, says when police arrived, Stawovy allegedly told them he was "undercover with Pennsylvania State Police working on a major drug sting." He allegedly yelled at police, claimed to be a "prophet," and said he "talks to God."
According to WTAJ, Stawovy reportedly kept saying he wanted to "restore Trump to the president of the United States" and "kill all the Democrats because Trump was still president."
Stawovy reportedly went to the same Dairy Queen earlier that day and left $120 on the counter, saying it was a tip for "non-Democrats."
A Delmont Police officer reportedly searched Stawovy’s vehicle and found two loaded handguns and 62 rounds of ammunition.
Stawovy reportedly did not have permission to carry the firearms.
Trib Live reports Stawovy was recently banned from attending church services at a local congregation because of his alleged outbursts.
Court records show Stawovy has been charged with firearm not to be carried without a license, terroristic threats with intent to terrorize another, disorderly conduct, and person not to possess/use a firearm.
In a statement, Klobucar praised Officer Greg Stull, saying Stull arrived "on scene within a minute of being dispatched," and "was able prevent the possibility of a mass casualty incident."
Klobucar wrote, "I am grateful for Ofc. Stulls fast response and actions to this incident that had the potential to end very differently."
