LLOYD, N.Y. (TCD) -- A 33-year-old woman faces a child endangerment charge after she reportedly allowed her young son to get a permanent tattoo on his arm.
Town of Lloyd Police said in an arrest report officers arrested Crystal Thomas on Oct. 4 on a charge of endangering the welfare of a child because she allegedly allowed her "10-year-old juvenile child to get a large permanent ink tattoo on his body."
Police later said the tattoo was on his arm.
She was reportedly released on an appearance ticket and was scheduled to appear in court Oct. 20.
About a week and a half after Thomas' arrest, Lloyd Police arrested the alleged tattoo artist, 20-year-old Austin Smith, for unlawfully dealing with a child and endangering the welfare of a child. He was also released on an appearance ticket and is due in court Nov. 3.
According to Hudson Valley One, the ink is reportedly 6 to 8 inches long and says the boy’s name. Officials found out about it when the boy allegedly went to the nurse’s office at his school to get Vaseline rubbed on the tattoo.
The boy reportedly received the tattoo at a motel, and Thomas was allegedly not in the room with him.
Lloyd Police Chief James Janso told Hudson Valley One the tattoo itself is "not a professional job."
The boy and his siblings are reportedly in custody of Child Protective Services..
