LAS VEGAS (KSNV) -- A 23-year-old woman accused of DUI in a crash that killed her 1-year-old son on Sunday had her bail set at $50,000 Tuesday morning.
Lauren Prescia appeared in a Las Vegas courtroom where prosecutors asked for the bail amount, arguing she was a "clear and present danger" because of her reckless driving.
Las Vegas Metro Police say Prescia crashed into another car at Rampart and Lake Mead boulevards around 7:35 p.m. Sunday. Her car left the road and hit a sign, which police say severed the right half of her Hyundai Sonata. Her son was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police allege Prescia smelled of alcohol and had bloodshot eyes when an officer first approached her. She told the officer she drank two hard seltzers around 4 p.m. that day.
An analysis found her car reached about 121 mph when she approached the intersection, police say in their report.
Prescia is due to return to court on Monday, July 20.
