CONWAY, Ark. (TCD) -- Police arrested a 49-year-old man on suspicion of killing his 68-year-old mother and lying about her whereabouts.
On Saturday, June 24, "concerned" family members asked the Conway Police Department to perform a welfare check on Nancy Glover-Warren after they tried but failed to contact her via phone. According to police, the family members last received text messages from Glover-Warren in April when she allegedly said she was traveling to Hawaii.
Officers went to Glover-Warren's home on Zachary Trail and attempted to make contact but were unsuccessful. Police left the home, and family members said they received additional text messages from Glover-Warren shortly after.
Glover-Warren's son, Raymond Martin Jr., reportedly spoke with family members and confirmed that she was in Hawaii. Martin allegedly lives with his mother and told police he speaks with her on a weekly basis.
Glover-Warren reportedly continued to post updates on social media indicating she was in Hawaii.
According to police, on Wednesday, July 5, one of Glover-Warren's friends said she sent a photo from Hawaii, but the friend concluded the picture actually came from Google.
Detectives served a search warrant at the Zachary Trail home on Thursday, July 6, and found Glover-Warren's remains.
Police then arrested Martin and booked him into the Faulkner County Detention Center on charges of capital murder, abuse of a corpse, forgery, fraudulent use of a credit/debit card, and theft of property.
The investigation is ongoing.
