LAS VEGAS (TCD) -- Police have arrested a 42-year-old man accused of killing his ex-wife and trying to harm himself on the Las Vegas Strip over the weekend.
According to a news release from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, on Sunday, May 28, at approximately 1:33 p.m., officers responded to the 3700 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard to a report of a suicidal person. Inside a room, responding officers found a man, later identified as Fernando Gomez, suffering from self-inflicted wounds.
Police also found Gomez's ex-wife unresponsive, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. The Clark County Coroner's Office will perform an autopsy and confirm her identity, as well as her cause of death.
Police allege Gomez killed his ex-wife and then injured himself before calling law enforcement.
Medical personnel transported Gomez to University Medical Center, and he was booked into the Clark County Detention Center for a charge of open murder following medical treatment. He remains held without bail and is scheduled to appear in court on May 31.
