NORWALK, Conn. (TCN) -- A former city official will spend five decades in prison for fatally shooting her tenant.
Per a release from Stamford/Norwalk Judicial District State’s Attorney Paul Ferencek, a judge sentenced 65-year-old Ellen Wink on Sept. 5 to 50 years behind bars in connection with the death of 54-year-old Kurt Lametta. A jury previously found Wink guilty in June of murder and criminal lockout.
On Jan. 20, 2022, the Norwalk Police Department responded to a report of a disturbance and located Lametta deceased with multiple gunshot wounds. According to prosecutors, Lametta was Wink's tenant at a home, and they had a "history of disputes." Authorities said Wink fatally shot the victim during a "confrontation." Lametta reportedly "recorded the final moments of the argument on his cellphone, which was used as evidence in the trial."
According to the district attorney's office, the defendant claimed self-defense and "extreme emotional disturbance."
WTNH-TV reports that Wink served as Norwalk’s deputy Republican registrar of voters, but a committee official said she was terminated from her position in January 2022 following the shooting.
