FRANKLIN, Tenn. (TCD) -- Police are working to identify multiple victims who were allegedly recruited, drugged, and raped by a 63-year-old soccer coach.
According to a July 9 news release from the Franklin Police Department, a local restaurant reported the allegations after a customer, Camilo Campos, left his cellphone behind. Restaurant staff reportedly looked through the phone to identify the owner and found "dozens of unconscionable video and pictures of children."
WSMV-TV reports police learned about the allegations on June 22.
Police said they conducted an "immediate and tireless investigation" and found "hundreds of disturbing videos and pictures." In some of the videos, Campos allegedly took videos of himself raping unconscious boys who were between 9 and 17 years old. Many of Campos’ victims were reportedly Hispanic.
Police found at least 10 child victims on Campos’ cellphone and have identified two.
According to police, the children in the videos were in "such an unconscious state that they might not even realize that they are victims."
Police learned Campos would allegedly approach and recruit his victims to play on his team, and he gained their trust. He would then reportedly have them over at his home, where he allegedly drugged and raped them.
Police arrested Campos on charges of rape of a child and sexual exploitation of a minor. Additional charges are expected.
