Dad arrested after 1-year-old daughter is found dead in L.A. River

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (TCD) -- A 22-year-old man was taken into custody after his missing 1-year-old daughter was found dead in the Los Angeles River.
According to KTLA-TV, on Sunday, Dec. 4, Inglewood Police Department officers went to a woman’s home on the 300 block of North Market Street after she called regarding her missing granddaughter. The woman reportedly told police her son, Jayveyon Burley, drove to Long Beach to retrieve his two children, but when he got back to Inglewood, only Burley’s son was with him.
Officers from the Inglewood and Long Beach police departments reportedly located Leilani Dream Burley’s remains in the Los Angeles River in Long Beach on Monday, Dec. 5.
NBC Los Angeles reports Jayveyon Burley was arrested for murder and child endangerment after investigators recovered the little girl’s body. Jail records show his bail is set at $215,000.
Leilani’s mother Lynisha Hull told KTLA Leilani was "so full of life," and she adored "music, books, she loved to dance, she loved giving high fives."
Hull also told NBC Los Angeles, "My son keeps asking me, ‘Where’s baby? Where’s baby?’ I can’t even tell him."
According to his jail records, Burley was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday, Dec. 7.
