GOLDEN GATE ESTATES, Fla. (TCD) -- A 50-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly intentionally setting a home on fire during a drunken rage, forcing the residents, including a 12-year-old disabled boy, elderly woman, and several pets, to evacuate.
According to a news release from the North Collier Fire Rescue District, on March 9 shortly after 2 a.m., fire crews responded to a fire at a home on the 3800 block of Randall Boulevard. The department said the residents safely escaped the home "along with several furry family members, including dogs and rabbits."
One of the rabbits was reportedly still inside the home, but firefighters were able to rescue the animal.
Firefighters determined the fire was "suspicious," Naples Daily News reports.
Upon further investigation, authorities learned Aunna Allen got into a physical fight with one of her roommates while she was under the influence of alcohol, WBBH-TV reports. She also allegedly got into an argument with the homeowner and attacked one of the neighbors.
Afterward, Allen reportedly retreated to her bedroom and lit it on fire before fleeing as she shouted profanities.
After she fled, the Naples Daily News reports the residents of the home noticed smoke and flames coming from Allen’s bedroom.
A witness reportedly told the Sheriff’s Office that Allen "got too drunk and mad" before starting the fire.
Another witness told investigators that a similar thing happened while they lived in North Carolina with Allen, and she allegedly set her belongings on fire.
Deputies told the Naples Daily News they found one of the residents with cuts, bruises, and scratches, and detectives recovered a butane lighter near some clothes and books.
In a recorded statement to the Sheriff’s Office, Allen said she "got into a confrontation," "flicked a cigarette," and she "kept walking," WBBH reports.
Allen was reportedly located walking on Randall Boulevard and was arrested and booked into the Collier County Jail for battery –– intentionally causing bodily harm to another and first-degree arson. She is scheduled to appear in court on April 3.
