LAS VEGAS (TCD) -- A 38-year-old man with ties to the extremist "Boogaloo" movement was sentenced to just over three decades in federal prison for several child sex crimes.
On Tuesday, March 14, a federal judge sentenced Stephen Parshall, who also goes by the name Kiwi, to 33 years behind bars with a lifetime of supervised release after he pleaded guilty in October to two counts of sexual exploitation of children, one count of coercion and enticement, and one count of receipt and distribution of child pornography.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Nevada said Parshall must register as a sex offender.
Parshall, William Loomis, and Andrew Lynam were arrested May 30, 2020, for allegedly planning to "damage and destroy — by fire and explosives — buildings and property owned by the U.S. government, as well as a public utility installation." They also allegedly made Molotov cocktails and planned to throw them at police during a George Floyd protest.
According to their indictment, the three men are charged with assist, solicit, or conspire to commit an act of terrorism, provide material support for use in the commission of an act of terrorism, conspiracy to damage or destroy a building by means of explosives, and possession of component of explosive or incendiary device with intent to manufacture explosive or incendiary device.
Parshall, Loomis, and Lynam are reportedly part of the "Boogaloos," which refers to "a term used by extremists to signify a coming civil war and/or collapse of society."
Following Parshall’s arrest on the terrorism charges, investigators executed search warrants on his electronic devices and discovered 10 photos of child sexual abuse as well as "numerous images of child erotica."
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Parshall forced one of the victims, who was under 18 years old, to "perform sex acts upon him while he photographed it."
Parshall reportedly told a second victim to take sexually explicit pictures and send them to him. The U.S. Attorney’s Office said he "traded child pornography material with other users."
His usernames included "cptkiwi1," "nopictoobad," and "pervysage."
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Loomis and Lynam pleaded guilty in a Nevada state court to attempting to provide material support for use in the commission of a terrorist act and were sentenced to four to 20 years in prison. Their federal charges were reportedly dropped as part of a plea agreement.
