Jason Dalton gets life in prison for Uber-driving murder spree

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WXMI) -- The man who shot and killed six people and wounded two others in a shooting spree nearly three years ago will spend the rest of his life in prison.
Jason Dalton was sentenced Tuesday morning for killing Richard Smith, 53, and his son Tyler, 17; Mary Jo Nye, 60; Mary Lou Nye, 62; Dorothy Brown, 74; and Barbara Hawthorne, 68. Abby Kopf, 14, was critically wounded and Tianna Carruthers suffered four gunshot wounds and has physically recovered. The shootings happened while Dalton drove customers around for Uber on the night of February 20, 2016.
Dalton was being taken Tuesday afternoon to prison in Jackson, Michigan.
