SOUTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. (TCN) -- A 50-year-old man stands accused of setting fire to a house after he and his girlfriend got into a fight.
In the early hours of Tuesday, Sept. 3, a resident at a home on Old Beekman Road called the Brunswick Township Police Department and asked for assistance in getting Leonard Jones IV to leave because they had an argument. While responding to the call, police received a report that the residence was on fire, and the first officer arrived within a minute.
Police said the officer noticed flames through the roof. Jones and three other people made it out of the home safely.
In a social media post, officers shared footage of fire personnel at the house and specified that the home belongs to Jones' girlfriend's parents. Police said the blaze was a two-alarm fire that required assistance from three different township fire companies.
Officials arrested Jones at the scene on charges of aggravated arson and domestic violence. He was booked into the Middlesex County Correction Center.
