GREELEY, Colo. (TCN) -- A 34-year-old man was sentenced to more than a century behind bars for sexually assaulting underage girls while they were playing a game almost three years ago.
The Weld County District Attorney’s Office announced Sept. 9 that a jury convicted James Pinker in June for four counts of sexual assault on a child — pattern of abuse. A judge recently sentenced him to 112 years to life in the Colorado Department of Corrections.
According to prosecutors, on Dec. 12, 2021, a Weld County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to a hospital after two underage girls alleged they had been sexually assaulted in a residence while visiting a family member. The victims reportedly told investigators they were playing "monsters" downstairs when Pinker joined in and began playing a "kissing" game with the girls.
The victims explained that the kissing game was when Pinker "would put his mouth on their 'privates' and made them take their clothes off," the district attorney’s office said.
According to prosecutors, a 17-year-old victim also spoke at the sentencing hearing and claimed Pinker used to sexually abuse her when she was a child.
In a statement, Deputy District Attorney Timothy McCormack said, "The defendant’s actions were not only heinous but he shattered the innocence and lives of several young children. This sentence reflects the gravity of his crimes and the justice deserved for his victims. Protecting children in our community is at the core of our priorities, and while no punishment can undo the harm he caused, the Court’s decision ensures that he will never have the chance to harm another child again."
