CLEVELAND (TCD) -- A 56-year-old father and his 19-year-old son were arrested after a 15-year-old male was shot dead.
According to a news release from the U.S. Marshals Service, on May 24, D’Lawrence Scott got into an argument with a woman near the 1000 block of Burta Street, and it turned physical. A 15-year-old male reportedly stepped in the middle of the fight to defend the woman, and D’Lawrence allegedly grabbed a firearm from a car parked outside the home and fatally shot the 15-year-old.
The victim, Jerry Davis III, was found at the residence suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso, the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
After the fatal shooting, D’Lawrence was reportedly wanted for aggravated murder, and his father, Lawrence Scott Jr., was wanted for obstruction of justice after allegedly performing as the getaway driver.
Two days after the shooting, on May 26, the U.S. Marshals Service announced they arrested the father and his son near the intersection of East 79th Street and Kinsman Road.
In a statement, U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said, "The U.S. Marshals Service has a strong partnership with the Akron Police Department. Today, that strong partnership resulted in the arrest of two dangerous fugitives and hopefully some justice for the 15-year-old victim."
