POUTEAU, Okla. (TCD) -- A 54-year-old man whose trial was scheduled to begin Monday was sentenced to more than 12 years for illegally castrating a man at a rural cabin and keeping the body parts in his freezer.
According to The Oklahoman, Bob Allen pleaded no contest on August 12 to five counts. He must reportedly serve two years in jail and 10 years and one month in prison but will get credit for time served.
Oklahoma court records show Allen and his husband Thomas Evans Gates were arrested October 16, 2020. Allen was charged with conspiracy to commit unlicensed surgery, practicing medicine without a license, maiming, unlawful use of communication facility, distribution of controlled dangerous substance including possession with intent to distribute, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, failure to bury a dead human member, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
The charging document alleges Allen and Gates agreed to perform gender reassignment surgery on the victim on or around October 12, 2020. The document says Allen and Gates removed the victim’s testicles and scrotum and put them in the freezer rather than bury them. The charging document also says Allen is accused of "altering [the victim’s] penis, resulting in permanent disfigurement to the body."
According to an affidavit cited by KNWA/KFTA, the victim allegedly met the couple through a eunuch website and Allen claimed he had 15 years of experience.
KNWA/KFTA, citing the affidavit, reports the victim was awake during the entire two-hour surgery. After the operation, Allen allegedly told the victim he was going to "consume the parts" and said he was a cannibal.
The day after the surgery, according to KNWA/KFTA, the victim had to go to the hospital because of heavy bleeding. Allen allegedly instructed the victim to tell hospital staff he "did it to himself."
Allen and Gates were reportedly arrested when they visited the victim in the hospital.
According to KNWA/KFTA, Gates pleaded guilty to failure to bury a dead human member, possession of controlled dangerous substance, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia in August. He will be sentenced September 28.
The Oklahoman reports Gates was released after being sentenced to time served.
