Man arrested after Georgia mom’s body is found at construction site

KENNESAW, Ga. (TCD) -- A 27-year-old homeless man was arrested after the body of a 40-year-old mother was discovered at a construction site last week.
According to a statement, on Oct. 14 at approximately 10 a.m., Acworth Police Department officers went to a construction zone at 4920 Ivey Road after a person called and said they found "what appeared to be a dead body."
Police confirmed the remains were a deceased body and said the cause of death was unknown.
Acworth Police learned the victim died in Kennesaw, and said they are working with Kennesaw Police in the investigation.
Kennesaw Police identified the victim as 40-year-old Amanda Sharpe. The department took over the investigation Oct. 15 and secured an arrest warrant for Jake Stephen Schell. He was taken into custody on charges of concealing the death of another, tampering with evidence, four counts of financial transaction card theft, and other drug-related charges.
Cobb County Adult Detention Center records show he is being held without bond.
Kennesaw Police said Sharpe’s cause of death remains undetermined while the investigation is still pending with the Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office.
