EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KDVR) -- One week after an 11-year-old El Paso County boy went missing, authorities received a new piece of evidence to further the investigation into Gannon Stauch's disappearance.
FOX31 obtained a copy of evidence that came from a neighbor's surveillance camera. Authorities have asked us not to describe or show it yet because it's a part of their investigation. To ensure we don't compromise anything in the search for Stauch, we are honoring the sheriff's office request.
As the search for Stauch continues, investigations centered around the home he was last seen leaving on Jan. 27. Investigators walked inside of the home with gloves and left with evidence bags.
“There's a lot being done behind the scenes, especially on the investigative side,” said Jacqueline Kirby with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.
FOX31 will share the footage as soon as the sheriff's office approves.
The El Paso County Sheriff's Office took a report for a juvenile runaway, Gannon Stauch, on Monday, Jan. 27.
Stauch's stepmother last saw him in his home in the 6000 block of Mandan Drive in Security.
The stepmother said that some time during the 3:15 p.m. to 4 p.m. time period, Stauch left the home to play at a nearby friend's house. He has not been seen since.
Stauch is 4 feet 9 inches tall and weighs about 90 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a blue hooded jacket, jeans and tennis shoes.
The sheriff's office said Wednesday, Jan. 29, that its Major Crimes detectives have taken over the case. They are searching for evidence and taking all witness statements.
At a press conference Thursday, Jan. 30, the sheriff's office said the case had been upgraded from a runaway child case to an endangered child case. The sheriff's office also urged people to stop spreading misinformation on social media.
