NASHVILLE -- (WZTV) -- The Dickson County Sheriff's Office isn't giving up hope in the search for Joe Clyde's body, even though the baby's father and murder suspect has led them down the wrong path several times.
Kindergarten student Joe Clyde Daniels was reported missing by his father on April 4, prompting an endangered child alert and massive search. Days after, Joe Clyde's dad was charged with the boy's murder.
The search for Joe Clyde has passed a month. Right now, deputies have been doing targeted searches in a 5 square mile area near the Daniels' home along Garners Creek Road. The search is still considered a “recovery effort.”
Court documents say Joseph Ray Daniels confessed to beating his son to death and hiding his body back in the beginning of April. Since then, Daniels has sent several locations to Dickson County officers, with no success.
"He sent us to several locations, none have panned out,” a spokesperson for the DCSO said.
Joe Clyde's mom, Krystal Daniels, is also charged and accused of being present for the young boy's death and trying to help cover it up.
Both behind bars, the DSCO confirmed they requested a photo of Joe Clyde and were given the search flyer for their inmate quarters.
