JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (TCD) --
A Florida woman was arrested after showing up at her daughter's middle school wearing a boxing glove and allegedly attacking a student last week.
Edith Riddle, 34, is accused of punching a middle-school student after her daughter attacked the classmate in the cafeteria of Dupont Middle School on Thursday, March 18.
Riddle and her daughter, whose age was not disclosed, were at the school for an appointment with the vice principal about the daughter’s “hostile outbursts” at another student, according to WTLV-TV.
After their meeting, Riddle and her daughter reportedly walked into the school cafeteria, where the daughter allegedly attacked another student. Riddle is also accused of punching the student.
According to an arrest report, Riddle was wearing the boxing glove on her left hand. She had attended the meeting with the vice principal with the boxing glove on her hand, telling the vice principal it was super-glued on and couldn’t be removed.
Riddle’s daughter had reportedly pushed the other student to the ground and punched the victim repeatedly before Riddle allegedly joined in.
A school safety officer broke up the fight at about 12:15 p.m. Riddle was arrested by Duval School Board Police and was booked in the Jacksonville Sheriff's detention center.
The victim, who is not related to Riddle and her daughter, got abrasions on her forearms and knees. She was taken to a hospital for an evaluation and her parents said they wanted to press charges.
Edith Riddle was charged with one count of child abuse with personal/special weapon.
