MIAMI (TCD) -- A 41-year-old mother was recently arrested after her two young children were found dead in their home.
According to WPLG-TV, on the evening of Tuesday, April 12, officers from the Miami-Dade Police Department responded to a home in the 100 block of Northeast 75th Street after Odette Lysse Joassaint called and hung up on 911 repeatedly.
At the scene, Miami Police Officer Michael Vegas told WPLG, "They found a female who appeared to be irate or going through a crisis." Joassaint reportedly told officers, "Come get them. I don't want them anymore."
Police told WPLG Joassaint appeared to be hallucinating.
According to WFOR-TV, officers located two unresponsive children lying in a bed, 3-year-old Jeffrey and 5-year-old Laura. They reportedly had their arms, legs, and necks tied. The children were pronounced dead at the scene, WFOR reports.
Miami police reportedly responded to the home multiple times throughout the year to disturbances and domestic issue reports, including one on Sunday, April 10.
According to WPLG, Joassaint was placed on a stretcher and removed from the scene. Her statement to authorities was allegedly removed from the public arrest report.
The victims' father told WPLG he had reported Joassaint to the Florida Department of Children and Families in the past.
Joassaint was reportedly arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
